Duration: 2 years
The Interior and Product Design program at CHAVÓN develops the technical, critical, practical, and theoretical tools a designer needs to solve creative and functional problems, oriented to human beings and daily life. Students learn to create meaningful spaces and products that take into consideration human experience within the context of a world that is changing daily.
An architectural orientation with emphasis on spatial design, treatment of surfaces, and product design provides graduates with skills in all aspects of the design process, from the definition and initiation of an interior environment to its construction and conclusion, as well as the ability to design a complete interior, from its entirety to its details.
The program is enriched by a concentration in product design, developing studio skills such as research, representation, and the creation of prototypes.Such topics as consumption styles, demands of the market, and means of production are covered, and projects are developed that educate, raise awareness, and promote change in local industry.
At CHAVÓN we promote an awareness of the social, cultural, and environmental dimensions of interiors and products, and we investigate local and global concerns such as sustainability, the intelligent use of materials that are in line with our actual needs, and the importance of social responsibility.
The program encourages interdisciplinary exploration that enables students to carry out their own research by means of tools and subjects covering topics ranging from the creation of concepts, analog and digital drawing, and techniques of representation and visual communication to experimentation with mock-ups, 3D modeling, and the use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology. Through a series of demanding design studiescentered on such diverse themes and programs as residential, commercial, and mixed use, and that grow in size and complexity over the course of their studies, students explore the relationship between interior architecture, decorative arts, and the effects design decisions have on the human spirit.
At CHAVÓN we seek excellence, and so we involve participation by national as well as international industry professionals in conferences, consultation on projects, and critiques, offering students knowledge of technical and practical aspects of the field.
