The program is situated in Altos de Chavón, a distinctive cultural village perched on a dramatic bluff above the Chavón River, located within the prestigious Casa de Campo resort complex.

This extraordinary natural and architectural environment creates an unparalleled setting for artistic reflection, creative production, and meaningful international cultural exchange.

The AIR program operates in flexible cycles of 30, 45, 90, or 120 days, with each residency providing:

  • Round-trip airport transportation
  • Fully furnished private apartment
  • Dedicated individual studio space
  • Full access to the school facilities: library, labs, workshops, and classrooms
  • Weekly shopping trips to La Romana
  • Casa de Campo resort amenities access (beach and pool; additional charges may apply for select services)

Impact and Legacy

CHAVÓN’s AIR program has served as a meeting point for renowned artists such as Elvira Bach, Larry Rivers, Roberto Juarez, Julia Álvarez, Jerzy Kosinski, Aya de León, and many others.

The program has also hosted participants from institutions like the New York Academy of Art and the Davidoff Art Initiative, solidifying its reputation as one of the most relevant artist residency programs in the region.
